Rakrisy (Head Teacher of Mangarivotra School), her 9 members of staff, 4 representatives of parents, 5 elders of village and the president of Fokotany greeted us at 9 am. The 510 children were present in the play ground when Rakrisy addressed the audience.

Then, our meeting was focused on the water supply project we are aiming to complete by October 2012. …

Two teachers, four representatives of parents, Mr Lobo (former Head-teacher, now retired and deputy major of Vohimarina) greeted us at the village Hall at 2pm.

The subject was the construction of a new classroom to replace the old one that will be under demolition.

The meeting was about assessing the cost. …

Mangarivotra school visit on 20^th and 21^st October 2009

Mrs Rakrisy and her member of staff (10 teachers) met us at 1pm after the closing of the school. Twenty parents were present representing the PTA, the dignitaries of the villages, Mr Abel Andrianirina (Ketsa representative), Miss Prisca Faravoavy (student in management, in charge of the financial control), Mr Hery Ramaroson (photograph and cameraman), 15 football players of the surrounding villages.

The next Society event is on Wednesday 12th January at a new, slightly later time of 6.30 for 7pm, with Malagasy food and a free bar, and a talk by Douglas Garrod on 'A Trip to Some Gem Mines', on the 2006 field trip he led to Madagascar for the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, where he is Senior Education Executive.

Dear friends and donators

I was preparing a “brief news” of Mangarivotra school on 26^th January 2009 when I heard from one of African Radio/Tvs that Madagascar was hit again by a riot and unrest after 7 years of peace. The capital Antananarivo was mainly affected.

It is not my role nor my place to comment what happened: papers, medias, internet sources can give us more details about what is going on...
