Mangarivotra is a community school near the town of Mahasoabe in the countryside 30 kilometers from Fianarantsoa in the central southern plateau of Madagascar.
On the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the school in 2008 a new classroom was inaugurated and officially named Horsell in honour of the schools and friends in this village in England who's generosity made its construction possible.
This site will document the history of Mangarivotra primary and Vohimarina Lamosina secondary school with news and updates on the charitable activities that continue to deliver support. Funds raised provide help and facilities to bring education to the pupils, children that strive to get an education in this poor country.
The current fundraising project is to raise the £6,000 required to restore the first classroom built by the French administration in 1911 and opened in 1912 at the Vohimarina Lamosina secondary school.
This building was unfortunately hit by two cyclones in January 2008 and December 2011 resuting in the loss of two classrooms. The school is currently unable to provide a full education to all pupils as lessons have to be staggered and class sizes have doubled to between 70 and 80.
